I really do suck at this.

Well hello there..
As you can see, I have not updated this blog for over a month. I have been nagging myself for weeks (literally) to do this, and even going as far as planning in my head what I'll write (that's far, for me anyways, just actually writing it out is the next step). I guess some things just never change. But anyways, updates! I really do regret not writing more.

I'll begin with Thanksgiving.. I skipped English class (better than skipping the whole day :) to go buy food with Tom for Thanksgiving dinner. We searched through literally ten grocery stores looking for a turkey and almost bought a duck in the process, thinking it was turkey. We eventually found the Turkey and brought it home, only to realize that it was frozen and we had only four hours to cook it, woops.
After searching the internet, we came across this guide http://www.ehow.com/how_4602366_cook-frozen-turkey-thanksgiving-dinner.html - it saved us and we owe all our thanks to eHow! Not only did eHow teach us how to quickly cook a frozen turkey without poisoning everyone, but also how to make stuffing from scratch and every other thanksgiving food. All in All, we managed to cook a makeshift Norwegian thanksgiving in four hours, score! No former preparations were made except leaving stale bread out all night for the stuffing. I also have to thank my mom for answering my phone call while she was busy cooking her own Thanksgiving and figuring out how we could make the stuffing on the stove since the turkey took up the entire Norwegian oven!
Thanksgiving photos:
There are more but they take too long to upload

Well, I don't remember much else of what I've done right now, but I went to the 3rd Revyfest, it was fun, Haakon had a party here, we started the Advant Calender fro December (I love it :D) andd went to Kvitfjell. Kvitfjell was so nice, I can't wait to go back. Finally got skiing again too :] I read The Demon King in like one day. Good book. Here's a picture I took there around dusk..

What else..I went to a christmas thing with MorMor and it was FREEZING so we didn't stay long. I went Christmas shopping last thursday, went to Sweden this weekend and bought a lot of stuff as well.. A new shirt, tights, shoes, and christmas presents. I didn't take many pictures since we were just in Göteborg the entire time. But we went to a Christmas festival saturday night, I really enjoyed it. It started snowing and I got so in the Christmas spirit. I've been lsitening to al to of Christmas music also haha and am finally finding a little time again to play my uke. Anyways, in Sweden we also celebrated Sankta Lucia day.. we had to dress up, learn the Swedish Sankta Lucia songs, and preform them in front of the Swedish host parents and some other people. The bus ride home was very long. It is suppose to be four hours but it took about five because a different bus broke down so we had to pick up the people on the highway in teh middle of nowhere from that bus and bring them to where they were going, go through border control, and then yeah.

I would be more informative of everything but I'm very tired and am falling asleep as a write.. så god natt<3

Closed Eyes

Well, once again, I'm failing to update this blog. It's been what, over a week? I just am terrible at this.
Time for a recap of what I can remember (my memory is still on a constant downfall, everyday is a struggle to remember something).

... thinking time... thinking time... thinking time... thinking time...

Okay, after a legitimate strugge, I can remember back to last Saturday.
Saturday, October 23: At around 2pm Johanne and I walked to MorMor's house for her "girls-only" birthday party. We helped set things up and get the food prepared. A couple hours later many old women were pouring into MorMor's flat; Johanne, Ellen, and I were quite out of place. Anyways we spent the evening with them and Johanne and I often escaped to the kitchen to throw a party.. I mean sit quietly like good kids. :) we actually turned the radio on and danced, it was our own, private party in MorMor's kitchen.
Sunday, October 24: MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY!!! I was going to call her but never had time, oops. Anyways we went to "BesteMor" and "BesteFar's" house for dinner. It was chicken, salad, red peppers, and apple cake. I enjoyed it and BesteFar showed us old photos from when he lived in the States. There was one point where Johanne and Haakon were kneeling down on each side of him (he was sitting in a chair) listening to what he was saying and looking down into the scrapbook. I wanted desperately to take a photo of that, it was just so.. cliche and amazing.
Monday, October 25: After school I hung out with Fredrik for the first time. I met a lot of random people he knew also in Oslo S. We were going to go to Sub Scene with his friend Veronika but it was closed. So, instead, we went to different stores and Veronika bought a new belly-button ring and scarf. Later she went home and I went to Fredrik's house and we played with his PS2, watched tv, and listened to music. It was nice :]
Tuesday, October 26: After school, Julie, Rebecca, and I went to the teenage cafe place, the one I mentioned in a previous post, and did some homework. We didn't stay long and then went to Rebecca's house to watch the last Avatar episode, eat cookies, and do homework. Good times, yo.
Wednesday, October 27: (I think) I went to Julie's house after school and we talked and ate bread and watched one of her favorite shows on TV. I forget what it's called.
Thursday, October 28: Bente and I went to Aurora's house to bake Boller because it's Norwegian and I "had to do it." It was good. We worked on homework also while they boller baked. Well, actually, Bente and Aurora worked on homework, I just sat there and played with the dogs and read the cutest book ever in Norwegian (again, I forget the name) :p The boller were good by the way. Very goood.
Friday, October 29: After school Fredrik and I hung out again. We went to his Mom's place and watched a movie that I didn't pay attention to at all. His mom made pizza and gave us candy. It was great, I looove people who give me candy hehe. We also brought his dog on a walk (Ilovehisdog, she'ssocuteandremindsmeofJewelweogurhoer). At 7:15ish we went to Nordic Fest at Sub Scene. It was great and we really liked the band "Diamondog." The tickets were expensive but I'd say it was worth it. I also met Jim, one of Fredrik's gay friends. He was funny. We also bumped into another of his friends 3 times during the day, all in different places. I forget his name but it started with an A or something and all I remember was he said I can call him anything, Anal, Anus, anything that begins with an A.. haha. Anyways, it was a good night :]
Saturday/Sunday, October 30-31: At 1:30pm I met Jon at National Theatre. We walked around Oslo, went to the old villagethingymajig by the harbor, and just hung out and talking about the exhcange experience until 3 and then I had to go home. After getting my stuff at home, I went to Rebecca's for our sleepover and we played with the Sims 2 and such for a while and I read one of her new plays about a "creature" named Alex and a girl named Alice. It was really good! We had waffles for dinner, it was awesome. And then went to the basement to watch Fritt Vitt I, because it was a halloween sleepover. After that movie, Julie arrived and we watched Fritt Vitt II and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. It was fun but we were all tired and I fell asleep during Cloudy, haha, oops. The next day we continued to eat unhealthy food and watched The Amtyville Horror as well as The Haunting in Conneticut. We drew, wrote, talked, and yeah until about 4 and then Julie and I walked home. At home Nicolai made a big dinner which he, Ellen, Haakon, and I ate together and had leftover desserts. We were constantly interrupted by trick-or-treaters :] Good dinner  though. I was going to go to a halloween thing at Katarina's with Helene, Aurora, Bente, Anine, and Kaja but I had to have dinner with the family. Johanne was at a halloween party though.
Monday, November 1(i dag!): Nothing much. I had school, bought a bag of chocolate boller, so I'm set for the week, walked home with Helene, made dinner with Johanne (burritos, they were good), and now here I am. The End.

Random Thoughts and Happenings
  • I have constantly been listening to Escape the Day. They're an amazing, Swedish band. Closed Eyes and 2 B With U are my favorite tracks so far.
  • I'm learning to play "Trouble" by NeverShoutNever on my Uke and it has been going very well.
  • I need to write in my Harry Potter journal Claire gave me..that's where emotions and mental breakdowns are recorded if they happen.
  • I ate too much burrito today.

First 10 Things I Noticed in Norway

Just for memories and kicks, time for a list of the first 10 different things I noticed when I arrived here.
  1. The toilet flushers are never in the same spot - sometimes buttons on top, buttons on the side, we're handles that you have to pull up (it takes forever to figure out, I swear). Far to complicated for foreigners, or Americans atleast..or maybe just me.
  2. When you finally manage to flush the toilet for the first time, you get unexpexted fright and adrenaline rush. It's a huge whoosh, loud, and over in the blink of an eye.
  3. 99% of the showers fail to keep water inside of them, so your bathroom floor is nearly always flooded.
  4. Luckily, to help fix the flooding issue, extra drains are placed all over the bathroom rather than just in the shower. Why not just build a higher wall when you step into the shower? I do not know.
  5. You have to pay to use public bathrooms. Like, wtf?
  6. Stalls all have full walls, doors, and legitimate locks. No worries about people peeking :]
  7. Over half of the differences I noticed are in the bathroom.
  8. People on the streets don't look anywhere but straight ahead while walking and being friendly is just being too friendly.
  9. Beds are low to the ground and you have one blanket.
  10. Stealing apples from people's trees is quite common.
Well there you have it. There are many more things I could add but that's it for now. I'll update about my life later.

UpdatezzZzz

Accomplishments of the Day:
  • I got a humorous, Norwegian birthday card for my sister that she won't understand.
  • I did my English homework in 10 minutes.
  • I gave Torgeir a (coughveryshortcough what?) piggy back ride without falling over.. he ways twice as much as me.
  • I resisted my Deli De Lucas tea addiction and got chocolate milk instead.
  • I learned how to say "I'm Freezing" in Norwegian.. "Jeg fryser."
Hello there. I'm still adjusting to this new blog situation here but I think it's going to go well. Now, for a start, I'll just do a normal update.
Yesterday was Nynorsk testing day at school. I'm not being tested on Nynorsk so I didn't have to go to school at all, which was grrr-eat, frosted flakes style. At 11:30 I took the T-Bane to National Theatret and was mauled out of nowhere by Rebecca! It was a walk, walk, strut, look around, admire and smile, JUMPEDONADRENALINERUSHSCREAM situation. Luckily, I had my bag ready to whip people with if I was being mugged, which at first I thought I was. I am far too oblivious to my surroundings. Anywho, after our..er..greeting, we went shopping for Bente's birthday gift and found this teenage cafe. I was completely stoked when I saw it. We are going next week to hang out there. I also boguht a book called "50 Crazy Things to Do in Norway." I love it, I want to do everything. After Bente's shopping and the book, we went to a food store and I experienced love at first site - a perfectly shaped, flawless breadstick. It was a few minutes of staring at it and the perfect cinnamon bun next to it. After spendingabout 10 minutes total deciding which one I wanted, I resorted to my usual and bought both because I am a terrible decision maker. All in all, though, that was one good piece of bread.
After buying cookies and soda, we went to a music store. Rebecca needed to get some new guitar strings for her spiffy new electric guitar and I drooled over the pianos and keyboards. Then, it was like love at first site again! A uke, a full out, legitimate ukulele. Julie and I decided it was adorable and I remembered my plans for the last two weeks of buying one at some point after Martijn gave me the idea. After being childishly excited over it, we booked it to the nearest mini bank and back and I bought my Uke :] His name is Zuko. Uko Zuko Conrad, to be extact. I love my Zuko. [[Zuko and I]] --->
Time to speed things up - we then wen to a costume store and then back to Rebeccas house - barely, you can't breathe on these darn public buses! - and ate our cookies, drank soda, played with Zuko, rocked out, listened to Rebecca play the el guitar, and drew. I tried out the el guitar too - so freaking fun and badass feeling. I jsut felt so hardcore in those moments of pretending to play the guitar well.. and the uke. For dinner we made scrambled eggs and watched a Norwegian comedy series about three brothers. I forget the name. Good times. We also had a bit too much fun with the massager at Rebecca's.
Today - I walked to school with Helene at 8:30. I love starting late. It was a nice and we walked from Natinoal Theatret to school. Today was "Dignity Day" so we did a lot of activities with our classes and the school until 11 and then an extended lunch and normal classes. The only class I had today after lunch was English so it was a good day. After school Julie, Synne, and I went to the bookstore so I could get a birthday card for my sister to mail to her tomorrow - her birthay is in four days! We also went to Narvesson and again, I experienced my huge issues with decision making. Bolle, or Stratos? Bolle, or Stratos? 3 Boller for 25 kr. or 2 Stratos for the price of one? Finally, I resorted tot he usual again and got both. That's two days in a row this has happened! In these situations I should just not get anything. Way too much junk food for one day also. Julie and I then went to her house and watched Avatar (of course) like all afternoon and had good pizzas for dinner. At 9:40 we ran to the T-Bane stop and I took it one stop to Makrell-Bekken and walked home. It was so nice standing in the middle of the street on the way home and just looking at the street lights, listening to the quietness, and seeing the stars and moon. I do miss the Maine sky though where you see Millions of stars everywhere rather than just a few in the city. Full moon soon.
Jeg må sov nå... god natt, ha det bra.
Klem, Patricia.

It's time. Time for a real blog.

The last few days I've noticed how isolated my Tumblr blog is. I only know a few people with Tumblrs and everyone else has a blogspot/blogger. After much debate, I decided to switch to Blogspot so I can follow my friends on here and just make life easier.

My old blog was also just a mess. It was rushed updates about what I've been up to and not as legitimate as I would like. So from now on, I'm going to being writing a real blog and (hopefully) update it almost every day to remember my time here in Norway and such.
